Joel Osteen’s Wife Sued Over In-Flight Temper Tantrum

By LaVrai, 6 August, 2008, No Comment

Wow. I really found this one hard to believe. Yes, Mr. Osteen’s preaching is a bit off (you know, I don’t hear him mention salvation through Jesus Christ or anything about living a clean, holy life to be acceptable to GOD ALMIGHTY), but I would never think to pair he or his wife, Victoria Osteen, with violence. That’s what a Continental Airlines flight attendant is alleging, however. Please read to see how much this flight attendant is suing for and the list of things she apparently suffered due to the incident (boy, oh boy…).

Excerpt:

HOUSTON – A jury was seated Wednesday in a lawsuit alleging the wife of nationally known pastor Joel Osteen assaulted a flight attendant.

Opening arguments were set for Thursday in a case Victoria Osteen’s lawyer called “silly.” But Reginald McKamie, attorney for Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown, said he hopes the trial will show “that celebrity status doesn’t take precedence.”

Brown accuses Victoria Osteen of assaulting her before the start of a 2005 flight from Houston to Vail, Colo. Brown alleges Victoria Osteen threw her against a bathroom door and elbowed her in the left breast during an angry outburst over a stain on her first-class seat. The Federal Aviation Administration fined Victoria Osteen $3,000 for interfering with a crew member.

Now, does the FAA fine someone who is innocent… and does the person being fined pay the fine if they are innocent? — Wow.

Gay Group Reaches Out To Joel Osteen

By LaVrai, 8 May, 2008, No Comment

A group that “fights religious and political oppression of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders” is apparently trying to infiltrate questionable churches…like Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church.

The son of evangelical Tammy Faye Bakker Messner will spend his first Mother’s Day weekend since her death in Houston, waiting to hear from Lakewood Church Pastor Joel Osteen.

Jay Bakker, a high-profile supporter of Soulforce – a group that fights religious and political oppression of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders – wants Osteen to join the nontraditional families at a picnic Saturday and welcome them to church on Sunday.

As the tattooed and pierced Bakker spoke at a Soulforce news conference Wednesday, it was clear his mother was in his thoughts. Though she died of cancer last July, she remains a near-legend in the LGBT community.

“I want to celebrate my mother’s life,” said Bakker, pastor of Revolution New York City, “and help spread the message she lived and preached. We need to stop thinking of ourselves as ‘us’ and ‘them.’ We hope the families of Lakewood Church will open their hearts and minds to us and sit down and have a conversation and share a meal. … Let’s put our differences aside and share the love and hope of Christ.”

Osteen has been largely silent on LGBT issues.

But for Bakker, “That’s as destructive as speaking out against the LGBT community.”

I can’t even give this group the time of day. They have a document on their Web site in which they totally refuse to acknowledge what the Holy Scriptures say about same-sex sexual activity — GOD doesn’t look upon it favorably. Instead of making the scriptures about homosexual behavior, plain and simple, they instead choose to make the scriptures about Leviticus priests and the ‘unusual’ sexual behavior of the Romans. Oh, and gang rape, as was partly the crime of the Sodomites.

Romans 1:24-32Romans 1:24-32
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Would GOD condemn one group of people for doing something HE finds “unclean,” “vile,” “shameful” and “debased” and totally ignore everyone else who do these things which are contrary to HIS Word? The Creator counts these homosexual acts as unrighteousness, which means homosexuality is a sin. Unrepentant sinners will find their place with “…the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Revelation 21:7-9Revelation 21:7-9
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. all things: or, these things 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. 9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

Those who practice homosexuality and those who have such feelings are not worthless or mistakes or worth any less than others. We are all GOD’s creation and we are all born with the stain of sin. Homosexuality is a sin, according to the Word of GOD. There is no distinction between sins and those who commit them. And …the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23Romans 6:23
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

This death and life are eternal.

‘Why Oprah Left Wright’s Church’

By LaVrai, 8 May, 2008, No Comment

I think anyone who has been paying attention to Oprah Winfrey’s ’shift’ into the New Age gospel/delusion knows why she might have left the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church (who of course is now Sen. Barack Obama’s ex-pastor). Anyway this article in Newsweek magazine attempts to dissect why two high profile people who were members of this embattled preacher’s church (which follows Black Liberation Theology) reacted differently to the heated sermons of their pastor. Obama chose to stay, Winfrey chose to leave. Newsweek talks to mystery sources in Oprah’s camp who say the daytime talk show diva was not only conscious of her show’s audience and her own marketability:

But Winfrey also had spiritual reasons for the parting. In conversations at the time with a former business associate, who also asked for anonymity, Winfrey cited her fatigue with organized religion and a desire to be involved with a more inclusive ministry. In time, she found one: her own. “There is the Church of Oprah now,” said her longtime friend, with a laugh. “She has her own following.”

This “inclusive ministry” Winfrey was longing for could have just be referring to the strange race-based theology of the church or it could have been also all that talk about Jesus Christ being the only way to salvation.

(Read the rest at Newsweek…)

And in this video, Oprah explains why she left the Church.

Video: Bush: ‘Many Paths’ To Heaven

By LaVrai, 7 May, 2008, No Comment

I stopped believing President George W. Bush was a Christian a long time ago, but it appears some people may still think he adheres to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Holy Bible says in very many places that Christ Jesus is the only way to salvation. He is the only one who makes intercession for us before the FATHER, GOD ALMIGHTY (scripture).

“As we pray for God’s continued blessings on our country, I think it makes sense to hope that one day there may be an International Day of Prayer,” Bush said during his eighth and final appearance at the (National Day Of Prayer) ceremony (Details).

Deciding Who Lives & Who Dies

By LaVrai, 5 May, 2008, No Comment

This is another disturbing story about mankind playing ‘god’ with the world. A body of medical professionals has come up with guidelines for hospitals on how to decide who to treat and who not to treat and let die in the case of a catastrophic event in the U.S. (which many Christians are expecting any day now). And not surprisingly, it will mostly be the poor, elderly and disadvantaged who these people say should be allowed to die…or be killed, depending on how you look at it. Here’s their list of who shouldn’t get the time of day:
