Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

“He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead,” Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

Reports started popping up last fall about parents who discovered that a certain toy they had purchased for their children would utter — it sounds like, anyway — “Islam is the light.” Now, the same phrase has popped up in a game for the Nintendo DS. A doll in the program utters repeatedly “Islam is the light,” according to this Indiana mom and the video report.

I particularly appreciate this hilarious writeup from the Portland Parenting Examiner:

It’s not known if the company, Crave Entertainment, who developed ‘Baby Pals’ has any ties with any radical Islamic groups, but it’s not likely that even if they were that they would be using the exact same sound bite.

In a statement from Crave Entertainment sent to GamePolitics, it seems that the developer used the same licensed sound file used in Fisher-Price’s Cuddle and Coo doll, They also go on to say that in over 200 hours of testing the product, no one recognized any English words or phrases. The baby used to record the sound bite was a 5-month-old baby babbling, and in no way could have uttered a grammatically correct phase.

These aren’t exactly two cheap, 99 cent store toys… they are products from Fisher-Price and a Nintendo-related company. Should we be concerned? Is this just a bad joke… or is the whole thing just totally silly?

Iran’s hardline president says the fighting in Gaza between Hamas and Israel has shown that it is “not feasible” for what he calls Israel’s “Zionist regime” to continue in the region.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the fighting in Gaza has been “a great lesson for all,” saying it shows “the absolute defeat and desperation of this (Israeli) regime.”

He says that “even for the supporters of the occupying regime and its leaders, it has become clear that the continuation of the Zionist regime’s life in the region is not feasible.”

Ahmadinejad does not use the word Israel in his comments, made at a Thursday press conference. But opponents of Israel often use the term “Zionist regime” to refer to it. (Source)

OK, I need someone to tell me exactly how peaceful and wholesome Islam is again. Because every time I look to the East, there’s usually blood, violence and blind rage. This ritual was so disturbing that even anti-Christ Saddam Hussein prohibited these Shiites from “celebrating” this festival in public, according to this article.

If you really need to see more and can’t imagine where this little mislead boy’s swinging of knives are headed, just follow the link below the photo. Again I say, did Christ Jesus not come to set the captives free? Mohammed and his demonic lies only enslave, and celebrate death, hate and destruction (a sure sign of Satan). There is nothing peaceful or loving about what I see here.

So while many are mourning the civilian deaths of Muslims in Gaza, we have folks willfully hurting themselves and shedding their own blood, and teaching their children to do the same…

Israel has finally moved ground forces into the Gaza Strip and, as usual, Hamas is talking big and promising as much bloodshed as possible. Let us remember to keep Israel in our prayers, that those making decisions lean not on their own understanding, but turn to the LORD so that it may be well with them. The Holy Scriptures say that there is coming a day when Israel will be humbled, just as every other nation will soon be judged. Out of this day (whenever that is), Jacob will truly look to his MAKER and be saved. Let us pray that the LORD our GOD will pour out HIS mercy and grace in abundance on everyone in that region, especially the defenseless.

Before the ground incursion began, heavy Israeli artillery fire hit east of Gaza City in locations were Hamas fighters were deployed. The artillery shells were apparently intended to detonate Hamas explosive devices and mines planted along the border area before troops marched in.

“Gaza will not be paved with flowers for you, it will be paved with fire and hell,” Hamas warned Israeli forces. Spokesman Ismail Radwan said in a televised speech Gaza will “become a graveyard” for Israeli soldiers.

A text message sent by Hamas’ military wing, Izzedine al-Qassam, said “the Zionists started approaching the trap which our fighters prepared for them.” Hamas said it also broadcast a Hebrew message on Israeli military radio frequencies promising to kill and kidnap the Israeli soldiers.

“Be prepared for a unique surprise, you will be either killed or kidnapped and will suffer mental illness from the horrors we will show you,” the message said.
