We Must Judge Or Risk Being Counted As Guilty With The Offenders

By LaVrai, 21 January, 2010, 4 Comments

I was reading through 1 Corinthians today and came across a startling passage… and it is partly startling because I had just visited some of my bookmarked blogs to see what those professing faith in Christ are up to. One of the last blogs I read shared a letter from a reader who was apparently concerned about the idea of Christians judging other Christians. There is a persistent argument among believers (and non-believers, too) that Christians are not supposed to judge others… because Jesus Christ said something to that affect in Matthew 7 — “Do not judge, lest you be judged by the same standard.” Some people trumpet this verse without putting the entire passage in context and studying what Jesus Christ was trying to teach against — hypocrisy. If you read Romans 2, you will see how Paul expounds upon Jesus’ words even further in warning against hypocrites judging others.

Romans 2:1Romans 2:1
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

2 1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

GOD teaches HIS children through the Holy Scriptures that we must indeed be properly equipped and wise in discernment, another term for judgment. We must be able to judge ourselves rightly (i.e., whether our thoughts, deeds and words line up with the holy standards GOD requires of us) and we must be able to judge whether the thoughts, deeds and words of our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus also line up with GOD’s holy standards. If GOD makes us witness to a brother or sister’s failings, we are required to go to that brother and sister and discuss this error, whether it be against us personally or against GOD (and indeed, sinning against a brother or sister is also an offense to the FATHER).

Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:15Matthew 18:15
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

“Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. …”

We are instructed to confront one another peacefully and in love when we are in error, and if the party in error refuses to realize his/her wrong, then others should get involved to lend support to the argument against the party in error. If then, the person in error still refuses to heed sound reason, then the church is called on to get involved… and if the person in error still refuses to repent, then he/she must be put out of the assembly and have no part with the church.

Homosexuality Was Not Sodom’s Only Sin, But It Was Most Definitely The Tipping Point

By LaVrai, 20 June, 2009, 5 Comments

I came across (another) post today declaring that homosexuality was not why Sodom was destroyed (although the blogger concedes that it was most definitely one of the many sins that contributed to their destruction). Let me say off the bat — any and all sin will lead to destruction, that’s the way of the LORD. HE IS Holy and those that seek HIM must also live holy. But let’s keep it real, Sodom was ultimately destroyed because of their sexual sin and perversion — that was the tipping point.

In Ezekiel 16 we read:

49Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

We’ve just read that the people of Sodom  practiced numerous sins, including “abomination” and what is this abomination? Based on supporting passages, we know that this “abomination” was sexual sin. Out of all the sexual sins GOD gives to Moses in Leviticus, homosexuality is the only one the LORD calls an abomination. And it is the only explicit example given of Sodom’s wickedness in the Holy Bible. What else are we to believe if the very last thing that happens before Sodom’s destruction is the men of the whole city attempting to get their hands on Lot’s angelic visitors (who are male)?

GOD didn’t have Moses record examples of their pride, gluttony, prosperous ease, lack of love for the poor and needy nor their haughtiness. For some reason, GOD thought it best to have Moses record what happened in that city just before they were destroyed — which was wishing to fulfill their sexual desires by violence on members of HIS angelic hosts.

Video: Women Of ‘The View’ Correctly Identify So-Called ‘Pregnant Man’ As A Woman

By LaVrai, 11 June, 2009, No Comment

I am not a fan of “The View,” but I was pleasantly surprised to turn on my TV yesterday and learn that not everyone in the media has drunk the cool-aid. Thomas Beattie came out a couple years ago, claiming to be a man, and was pregnant — Beattie is actually a gay woman who has had a double-mastectomy and is taking hormones. She became pregnant not long ago (and recently again) and the media has dubbed her the “pregnant man” — although men are incapable of conceiving and giving birth — GOD just didn’t make them that way. Everyone I suppose was so concerned about being politically correct, they failed to make note that Beattie has a uterus and therefore a vagina — the basic requirement for child birth.

Here is Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd explaining biology 101, refusing to at least exchange this very basic truth for a lie.

Video: Police Harass Christian For Allegedly Preaching Publicly That Homosexuality Is A Sin

By LaVrai, 10 June, 2009, No Comment

England always seems to be the guinea pig when it comes to what we in American can eventually expect to suffer. Here, a Christian preacher is doing the LORD’s work in the streets of England and police officers come by to let him know that he’s been offending people, some of whom have allegedly claimed that he’s been saying homosexuality is a sin — which he says he hasn’t, although it is. Homosexuality is an abomination. The preacher’s name is Andy Robertson.

More Peresecution Of Christians On The Job In The U.K.?

By LaVrai, 28 April, 2009, No Comment

I really wonder what is going on in England that a Christian can’t carry their faith on the job — and I’m not talking about proselytizing, I mean simply maintaining one’s lifestyle and values without encroaching on another’s way of life. In this case, some Christian workers at a school opted to walk out of a homosexuality sensitivity session and one of them was suspended (with pay at least) after writing a letter about his objections to the mandatory meeting. In this particular case, I cannot “side” with any particular party since it appears both parties were a bit “zealous” in their approach.

Excerpts:

A senior teacher has been suspended from his £50,000-a-year (about $73,000) job after he complained that a training day for staff was used to promote gay rights.

Kwabena Peat, 54, was one of several Christian staff who walked out of the compulsory session at a North London school after an invited speaker questioned why people thought heterosexuality was natural.

The presentation was given by Sue Sanders, a co-founder of the Schools Out organisation which campaigns for gay equality in education.According to Mr Peat, Ms Sanders, herself a lesbian, said that staff who did not accept that being gay was normal had ‘issues’ they had to deal with.

Mr Peat, a history teacher who is also a head of year, said he was upset that people who disagreed on religious grounds had no chance to respond.

He wrote privately to the three staff members who organised the session, complaining about Ms Sanders’ ‘aggressive’ presentation. In his letter, he cited the Bible and warned that practising homosexuals risked God’s ‘wrath’.

But the staff complained to the school’s principal that they felt ‘harassed and intimidated’ by the letter and, after an investigation, Mr Peat was placed on paid leave. He is now being supported by the Christian Legal Centre.

A(secular?) place of business is not the appropriate setting for people to work out matters of theology or to tell someone they need “fixing” because they disagree with your stance.
