Teachers Verbally Abusing Children?

By LaVrai, 28 May, 2008, No Comment

There are two cases here, both involving elementary school teachers verbally abusing their students. We all know how sensitive some little children are, so imagine a child being publicly humiliated by his own teacher and being told that he is stupid or worthless or hated…? These so-called ‘educators’ shouldn’t be involved in any child’s life, if this is really their mentality. Of course I say innocent until proven guilty, but what child makes up a lie like this? …And one child even got it all on tape!

Iran Persecutes Christian Converts

By LaVrai, 28 May, 2008, No Comment

Police in a southern city in Iran reportedly arrested 12 Christian converts from Islam in what appears to be part of a crackdown on the country’s growing house church movement.

The first arrests took place on May 11 at the Shiraz International Airport when two Christian couples were taken into custody before boarding their flight. They were all sent to jail and interrogated for hours “just about their faith and house church activities,” an Iranian source told Compass Direct News, a Christian persecution watchdog group.

Also on the same day, authorities raided the home of Hamid Allaedin Hussein, 58, and arrested him and members of his family.

Out of the 12 Christian converts arrested, eight have been released.

Carl Moeller, president of Open Doors USA, believes the crackdown on Christian converts is part of a fear tactic aimed at Christians who want to practice their faith.

He also warned that jailed Christian converts often face death.

“In many cases, some (Iranian Christians) just disappear,” Moeller says, according to OneNewsNow. “And of course we assume, and evidence in the past has indicated, that these people are either killed outright or die during torture.”

“In this case, four still remain in custody and at least two of them are without communication,” he said. “We really don’t know where they’re being held.”

It is illegal for Muslims to convert to Christianity in Iran, which is a crime of apostasy that can be punishable by execution.

Moeller thinks the arrested Christians are being tortured to reveal names of others in the underground church.

Iran is ranked third on Open Doors’ World Watch List for countries with the worst persecution of Christians. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom also lists Iran as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a label given to countries with the worst religious freedom abuses.

28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. This persecution will one day soon be the norm for Christians all over the planet and many of us will be imprisoned and killed. If you are afraid of dying, or you’re thinking of whom or what you will miss when this comes, please pray for the LORD to strengthen you and prepare you for that time — not to save your life.

Matthew is a 26-year-old living in Vienna and he needs a guardian because the place where he is currently living is in danger of being closed. A woman has picked up his case and is fighting the European Union Court of Human Rights on his behalf so that someone can adopt him and prevent him from being killed or abused. Oh, I almost forgot to mention — Matthew is a chimpanzee.

Orthodox Jewish Youths Burn Bibles

By LaVrai, 20 May, 2008, 3 Comments

Just seeing the headline on this story made me want to do as this little girl in the photo is doing. This is just madness. Are they going to start demanding Christians and Messianic Jews be handed over to the state for execution?

Orthodox Jews set fire to hundreds of copies of the New Testament in the latest act of violence against Christian missionaries in the Holy Land.

Or Yehuda Deputy Mayor Uzi Aharon said missionaries recently entered a neighborhood in the predominantly religious town of 34,000 in central Israel, distributing hundreds of New Testaments and missionary material.

After receiving complaints, Aharon said, he got into a loudspeaker car last Thursday and drove through the neighborhood, urging people to turn over the material to Jewish religious students who went door to door to collect it.

The books were dumped into a pile and set afire in a lot near a synagogue, he said.

The Israeli Maariv daily reported Tuesday that hundreds of Jewish religious school students took part in the book-burning. But Aharon told The Associated Press that only a few students were present, and that he was not there when the books were torched. Not all of the New Testaments that were collected were burned, but hundreds were, he said.

He said he regretted the burning of the books, but called it a “commandment” to burn materials that urge Jews to convert.

“I certainly don’t denounce the burning of the booklets,” he said. “I denounce those who distributed the booklets.”

Jews worship from the Old Testament, including the Five Books of Moses and the writings of the ancient prophets. Christians revere the Old Testament as well as the New Testament, which contains the ministry of Jesus.

Calev Myers, an attorney who represents Messianic Jews, or Jews who accept Jesus as their savior, demanded in an interview with Army Radio that all those involved be put on trial. He estimated there were 10,000re 10,000

Messianic Jews, who are also known as Jews for Jesus, in Israel.

Police had no immediate comment.

Israeli authorities and Orthodox Jews frown on missionary activity aimed at Jews, though in most cases it is not illegal. Still, the concept of a Jew burning books is abhorrent to many in Israel because of the association with Nazis torching piles of Jewish books during the Holocaust of World War II.

Earlier this year, the teenage son of a prominent Christian missionary was seriously wounded when a package bomb delivered to the family’s West Bank home went off in his hands.

Last year, arsonists burst into a Jerusalem church used by Messianic Jews and set the building on fire, raising suspicions that Jewish extremists were behind the attack. No one claimed responsibility, but the same church was burned down 25 years ago by ultra-Orthodox Jewish extremists. (Source)

10 Notable, Nameless People In The Holy Bible

By LaVrai, 10 May, 2008, 1 Comment

Every time I sit down and read the Bible, I often times come across an interesting passage, which always adds up to hundreds of interesting passages. Reading through the Gospel of Mark, I found a few passages that made me wonder about all of these nameless people Christ Jesus healed or helped who were never heard from again. Nothing was put in the Holy Bible just for sport, for every word of GOD serves a purpose. So I started to question the point of all of these nameless, yet very notable people. These are my humble interpretations, and you are of course encouraged to add your own two cents.
