Prayers For Mercy While Haiti Deals With Crippling Earthquake

As the whole world knows by now, the Caribbean island of Haiti has been struck by a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake… Haiti was already struggling with extreme poverty, political instability, HIV/AIDs, etc. Imagine how the already stricken populace is suffering even more now.

The next time you fall on your knees before the LORD our GOD, ask HIM to have mercy on the people whose lives HE spared in Haiti. That the people would take refuge in HIS Only Begotten SON Christ Jesus.

If you feel so inclined, a monetary contribution to a relief organization would also help provide food, clothing, shelter, medical aid, etc. to the survivors. Here’s a good place to start that also features cautionary info on avoiding the scammers who will be using this tragedy for personal gain.

I’m torn over Pat Robertson’s decision to make remarks to the affect that Haiti is suffering because they made a deal w/ the Devil during a national broadcast on his program. Mr. Robertson even went so far as to quote the Devil’s response to the people. Is that in the Bible?

Perhaps Mr. Robertson meant to say Haiti was shaken by the Hand of GOD due to disobedience? After all, GOD IS SOVEREIGN and the whole world is in HIS Hands. When HE shakes tectonic plates and tells fault lines to move, it’s with purpose. And HE has promised to punish all the world for its disobedience.

But according to this article, Mr. Robertson denies that’s what he was trying to say at all (EVEN WORSE!!). “The network (CBN) disputed any suggestion that Robertson was saying they were being punished by God. … “Dr. Robertson never stated that the earthquake was God’s wrath.” (Read the article here…)

So a man of GOD and a supposed student of the HIS Holy Scriptures says this earthquake has nothing to do with GOD… but an alleged pact Haitians made with the Devil?

I am continuously disappointed by this man.

He really needs to choose his words more carefully and put things in context for the world — which is always watching and ready to slam those “stupid, crazy cold Christians”. Open up the Bible next time, Mr. Robertson, and share passages that encourage people to look to the soon-coming LORD and KING Jesus the Christ. Instead of reciting some tale no one has been able to prove.

Psalm 34
Taste and See That the LORD Is Good

Of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away.
1 I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!

4I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
5Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.

8Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
9Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!
10 The young lions suffer want and hunger;
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

11 Come, O children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 What man is there who desires life
and loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Turn away from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry.
16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
and saves(AF) the crushed in spirit.

19(AG) Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
(AH) but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
20He keeps all his bones;
(AI) not one of them is broken.
21(AJ) Affliction will slay the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22The LORD(AK) redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be(AL) condemned.
