President Barack Obama was sworn in using a bible, although he didn’t use one during the do-over. He professes that he is a Christian, although the evidence shows otherwise. He said in his inaugural address, “We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth (source).”

Mr. Obama invited people of all faiths to participate in his inauguration — Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus and even gay clergy.

“President Obama began his first full day in office yesterday with a broad collection of American faith leaders praying with him and for him at Washington National Cathedral in a worship service crafted specially to reflect his interest in religious diversity (source).”

As revealed on his official Web site, Whitehouse.gov:In June of 2006, then-Senator Obama delivered what was called the most important speech on religion and politics in 40 years. Speaking before an evangelical audience, then-Senator Obama candidly discussed his own religious conversion and doubts, and the need for a deeper, more substantive discussion about the role of faith in American life. Senator Obama also laid down principles for how to discuss faith in a pluralistic society, including the need for religious people to translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values during public debate. In December 2006, President Obama discussed the importance of faith in the global battle against AIDS.

What does all of this say about the direction in which our nation is headed with such an “inclusive” president at the helm? What about the youth awed by this new president’s ideas and who hang on his every word?
