Links: What Other Blogs/ Sites Are Saying… Jan. 12, 2008

A round-up of interesting articles/ posts I’ve stumbled across recently…

  • Vee at Living Journey has an excellent post looking at the prophecies concerning Israel and that of her enemies… a very important post considering that Jacob is now making himself an enemy of most of the world. Right now, it appears that the United States is Israel’s only staunch supporter (but how long will that last?) — All the nations are gathering against Jerusalem…?
  • And for a complimentary article: Dan Sered at Jews for Jesus reflects on the current Israel-Hamas war and concludes, “Jesus the Messiah is what my country needs to turn this situation radically around. Nothing but his supernatural intervention in the hearts of individual Israelis and Palestinians will do.” Please read Is There Hope for Peace and consider the prayer requests.
  • Lori at Persevere has a post on a particular attitude we all need to be wary of (or I know I do, at least) – “Proud people depend on themselves rather than on God. God warns us about thinking too highly of ourselves, and putting ourselves upon a pedestal.”Pride
  • The Discernment Research Group has a post analyzing the U.N.’s new food distribution tactic for poor nations, and wonders if this is a model for a system the whole world will one day use (Revelation 13:16Revelation 13:16
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: to receive: Gr. to give them

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.) – Food Tactics at Herescope
  • Wow. President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration is inspiring all types of “faith” groups to celebrate…from Methodists to Buddhists to Baptists (who will be hosting a ball with “respectable hip-hop and R&B music”) – A Rush of Spiritual Outreach, Spiritual Partying @ Washington Post
  • Did you hear about the Bible “expert” who insists on a (supposedly) popular radio program that Jesus is not GOD? …Yeah. Read about it here and listen/download it here (excuse the serious/added Bible ignorance that opens the program). Official site – The Jesse Peterson Radio Show
  • Obama did an interview on ABC this weekend, in which he said on “saving” the economy, “Everybody’s gonna have to give”… but what does he mean everyone and give what? And what is this greater good he’s talking about?

Hi, Lori. Glad you find it useful, and GOD bless you, too!

  • Jeanette Windle

I appreciate what you have shared here–along with Living Journey, another great site. I am passionate about the body of Christ around the world, having grown up in Colombia and Venezuela as a missionary kid, lived in six countries, and traveled in ministry in some thirty, most recently Afghanistan. I am increasingly involved in ministry within the Muslim world, and my deep concern is the silence from our national leadership about religious freedom, especially in compromising with Islamic regimes. I’d like to invite you to my latest blog posting, ‘Is Democracy Enough?’ at http://www.jeanettewindle.blogspot.com/. My own upcoming book, Veiled Freedom, set in Afghanistan and scheduled for release May, 2009, with Tyndale House Publishers, explores just what is the true Source of freedom–and its cost.

Everyone should do themselves a favour and head on over the Jeanette’s site.

She discusses the issues of ‘Islamic Democracy’ within Sharia Law, an oxymoron, if ever there was one. The points that she addresses in her blog-posts are valid; all democratic nations should really think through these issues a little bit more to understand what true democracy really is.

  • LaVrai

Yes, ditto on Vee’s comment. I read Jeanette’s post and is definitely food for thought.
