Psalm 83 & The President Of Iran

By LaVrai, 26 August, 2008, No Comment

My mother often says, ‘No one goes into Israel (to do harm) unless GOD sends them.’ And, to be quite honest, that does appear to be the case. There are countless examples in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible in which GOD ALMIGHTY used ‘the nations’ to come against the people of Israel because of their disobedience. And there are countless examples where the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY dispels and destroys other nations that tried to come against HIS Beloved Israel. So it was then, so it is now.

Anyway, my point is — an article I just read concerning Russia (Gog/Magog) and Israel’s enemies in prophecy (specifically Iran) mentioned that Psalm 83 precedes the great and final conflict that’s called Armageddon. As I read Psalm 83… I could only think of one man and one nation (who will have no problem finding ‘allies’ when the time comes, and indeed, has them already). And, I thought this was in the Holy Bible, but I can’t even think of where to find it — that Israel is a nation surrounded on all sides by enemies. That is the case today, isn’t it — none of Israel’s neighbors, which are all Arab nations (I believe) love her… and all they need is one reason.

Psalm 83 – Prayer to Frustrate Conspiracy Against Israel (A Song. A Psalm of Asaph.)

1 Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

5 For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You: 6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites; 7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; 8 Assyria also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot. Selah

9 Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera, As with Jabin at the Brook Kishon, 10 Who perished at En Dor, Who became as refuse on the earth. 11 Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, 12 Who said, “Let us take for ourselves The pastures of God for a possession.”

13 O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind! 14 As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire, 15 So pursue them with Your tempest, And frighten them with Your storm. 16 Fill their faces with shame, That they may seek Your name, O Lord. 17 Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; Yes, let them be put to shame and perish, 18 That they may know that You, whose name alone is the Lord, Are the Most High over all the earth.

If you are unfamiliar with the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, let me share one of his most recent outbursts:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is calling Israel a “germ of corruption” that will be “removed soon.” The comments were posted Wednesday on his presidential Web site. They appear to be part of an effort to defuse criticism by hard-liners over recent remarks made by a high-level official.

Last week, Iranian media quoted Vice President Esfandiar Rahim Mashai as saying Iranians were “friends of all people in the world – even Israelis.” The comments were rare from a government official in Iran, whose president regularly calls for Israel’s destruction. They sparked domestic criticism of Mashai, with some officials calling for his resignation.

In 2005, Ahmadinejad said he believed Israel should be “wiped off the map.” (Source)

Now, you can call me a conspiracy theorist, sure. But whenever that man talks about Israel it’s usually concerning harming them, destroying them, ‘wiping them off the map…’ Doesn’t that sound just like Psalm 83:4Psalm 83:4
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

Some may just dismiss this man as crazy or ‘eccentric,’ but history is rife with such folks who have caused much damage to nations and peoples. I have always been of the mind that there is indeed one more war brewing in the Middle East that will be started, too, during the Bush administration. There are just so many ‘ifs’ involved with so many players that I’d be writing all day, so I’ll just trust that you all read newspapers and aren’t ignorant of the potential players that will indeed come against Israel (after all, as I’ve read the Holy Bible, Israel must be brought to her knees (humbled yet again) before she welcomes her Savior the LORD Jesus Christ). And, as becomes more apparent to me day after day, we are indeed that generation.

Or if you think I’m the one with all the crazy talk, please share. I’m obviously not a scholar or historian. I’m just a child of the LIVING GOD.
