Hello.
Can you recommend any books related to the Christian faith? I would like to expand my reading a bit, so I welcome both fiction and non-fiction works, as I am primarily looking for encouragement and edification. Just thinking about walking into Barnes and Noble and heading to their ‘religious’ section gives me a headache because I wouldn’t know where to begin.
I am looking for the ‘classics’ or foundational works, too, so please let me know what some of your favorite, most uplifting, educational, etc. books are. Thanks in advance.

My dear sis,
When it comes to Christian literature, I usually go non-fiction. There are a few places which have primarily Christian books for sale and which a browse-through of their catalog is pretty safe.
I personally like the writings of the Puritans and Reformed books, so Monergism.com is one of my favorite stops. And if you’d like to check out reviews of some recent books, Tim Challies at challies.com is a credible source for many, many reviews that help me make my choices as well. Tim himself has a book out called The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment which, in my opinion, is a must-read.
If you’d like to get a start, some good pastors have put their books up to be read free-of-charge on the Internet. One of them is John Piper, and his books can be read at this page. I’ve recently picked up “Don’t Waste Your Life” (PDF) and it is quite good!
Never trust secular bookstores, they are more intent on pushing books like “Conversations with God” and Richard Dawkins (bestsellers in themselves) than real meat.
I hope this helps some.
THANKS, ISAIAH, THIS IS DEFINITELY A GREAT START. MUCH APPRECIATED.
