Leader: GOD Isn’t A ‘Fact In The World’

The Archbishop Westminster is pandering to atheists and agnostics and slamming Christians for behaving as if they serve a GOD who can be affirmed on the “basis of observation.” He also thinks Christian are to blame for others losing the faith. Oh yeah, he also says theres a “hidden God” at work in everyone’s life. I wonder if this is President Bush’s god, “an Almighty.” Anyway, here’s an excerpt and some Holy Bible verses that contradict this man’s statements.

The Archbishop of Westminster has urged Christians to treat atheists and agnostics with “deep esteem”.

Believers may be partly responsible for the decline in faith by losing sense of the mystery and treating God as a “fact in the world”, he said in a lecture.

Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor called for more understanding and appreciation between believers and non-believers.

The leader of Roman Catholics in England and Wales said that a “hidden God” was active in everyone’s life.

… He expressed concern about the increasing unpopularity of the Christian voice in public life, saying: “Our life together in Britain cannot be a God-free zone and we must not allow Britain to become a world devoid of religious faith and its powerful contribution to the common good.”

… God is not a “fact in the world” as though God could be treated as “one thing among other things to be empirically investigated” and affirmed or denied on the “basis of observation”, said Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor.

“If Christians really believed in the mystery of God, we would realise that proper talk about God is always difficult, always tentative.

“I want to encourage people of faith to regard those without faith with deep esteem because the hidden God is active in their lives as well as in the lives of those who believe.”

I regard those with no faith in GOD ALMIGHTY as being in denial or in the dark (like those around the world who really just don’t know). I cannot respect someone because of their pride in refusing to believe. I can and do respect folks because we are the same creation and GOD made none of us for destruction.

It bothers me that this man is speaking of GOD ALMIGHTY as if HE is some kind of abstract idea and not a living Being, which HE very much IS. GOD IS A FACT IN THE WORLD, whether or not man chooses to acknowledge HIM. And the LORD can be affirmed on the basis of observation — just look around! Really! Who do you think made the earth you walk on, and who do you think made it that you do not go floating away? Do you really think man invented gravity or that it came about accidentally?

Romans 1:18-23

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

We don’t want to acknowledge GOD, but we want to delight in UFOs and aliens and crop circles. We refuse to consider that a being greater than ourselves could have created us and everything around us. We would rather believe that all of this marvelous work came about accidentally. Scientists with their flawed theories and ridiculous explanations must admit then that their work is based on random nonsense — since that was the beginning of life, they say, chaos.

Has anyone bothered to marvel at this thing called science? — How it can’t really explain why certain things are the way they are, but only observe how they work? Has anyone been able to explain to us why there are only 9 major planets (well…poor Pluto is a planet no more, they say) and why they are stuck on that path of theirs around the sun? Has anyone yet explained why the sun is? How about the bees that are slowly dying off — has a scientist yet explained why the bees are some how ‘programmed’ to pollinate and therefore make our harvests possible?

No. They haven’t. They can only observe how it happens but they can’t tell us why it happens. It is no mystery, folks. Someone made it so, and primordial ooze is not the ONE.
