Of all the crazy religions we humans come up with, Scientology is perhaps the oddest. I don’t think it’s a secret that Scientology is a religion (read: cult) of the mind. From previous reading I have done it seems Scientology involves a lot of brainwashing…for how else can you get one to believe in aliens and intergalactic wars…and make them sign a billion-year contract (L. Ron Hubbard wants your soul even after your dead)? Anyway, an escapee, free now for about 20 years, says the cult that is Scientology needs to be dismantled. D’oh!
In 1990, after becoming disillusioned, Mr Graham fled the Los Angeles Scientology base to return to Australia. He was declared a “Suppressive Person” - an enemy of Scientology. No member can have contact with him.
“I enjoyed a lot of my time in Scientology, and I think at its lower levels some of the auditing [counselling] can be very useful,” he said. “But at the upper levels a lot of the teachings are useless.
“I think it needs to be totally dismantled to help save the people in it. It is not run like a religion. It’s more like a cult. My concerns are about the constraints it puts on an individual and the denial of human rights. It is run by fear.”

And might I note, I don’t think the Scientology heads actually believe the nonsense they push into followers’ minds. They know that they are lying and willfully misleading people — a guilt they will surely be held accountable for by the Great Judge (and his name is not Xenon…or whatever).
